Introducing the new Mobile Monitor (MM) Series from Polk Audio, the next generation in mobile loudspeaker design. The MM Series features 18 new models, including 3 Ultra Marine designs, to fit virtually any application on land and water. The MM Series is composed of 6 full range systems, 3 component packages and 9 subwoofers.
MM Series significantly improves upon the Momo series by using the latest design and materials available. Borrowing technology from our flagship SR Series, MM Series offers exceptional value for the price. All models now use high-tech Carbon Composite basket structures for lighter weight and maximum rigidity. They will not rust or flex like inferior stamped steel designs. Butyl rubber surrounds provide superb reliability over foam, for years of great Polk sound. Full range models use Neodymium magnets, instead of conventional ceramic ferrite magnets, for weight and size savings.
These speakers truly offer the best of both worlds, in value and performance.
All MM models feature:
- High Efficiency Design- means less power needed for more output. For full range speakers, while a separate amp is recommended for best performance, they will still sound great when driven off head units and factory electronics.
- Klippel Optimized, so they perform equally well at low and high volumes.
- Marine Certified means all models are suitable for use on watercraft in addition to land vehicles.
Ultra Marine
Though any of the MM series may be used in a Marine environment, we've made 3 models specifically for use in marine applications. A 6.5" coax, 6.5" component and 10" subwoofer. These models feature stainless steel input terminals that will not rust.
- Rugged, Built-On Grille Includes Tweeter Mount eliminates the need for a traditional tweeter post. This allows the front of the speaker to be Completely Sealed preventing water intrusion.
- Sealed Crossover Assembly Built Into Back of speaker means there's no need to find room to hide an extra box. The neodymium magnet structures in the UM Ultra Marine series have a particularly useful advantage. Because of the reduction in magnet size, the crossover assembly in MM6501um component set and the MM651 coax is now integrated in the back of the speaker, instead of a separate box. This makes for an easier installation.
- Stainless Steel Heavy Duty Input Terminals will not corrode or tarnish from humidity or salt water.
- Passes The Most Rigorous 600 Hours of Salt Fog and UV Testing (ATSM B117-03 Standard Practice for Operating Salt Spray (Fog) Apparatus, and D4329-99 Standard Practice for Fluorescent UV Exposure of Plastics)- a stringent standardized test of reliability and longevity.
MM Series High Performance Subwoofers
- New Polymer Woofer Cones and Butyl Rubber Surrounds will not break down over time and will survive the rigors of harsh automotive environments.
- High Temperature Copper Voice Coil (51mm) and Polyamide Former withstands the most rigorous use while maintaining extremely low distortion for bass punch and output.
- Available in Single and Dual Voice Coil Configurations allowing flexible wiring options in all sizes.
- Heavy Duty Input Terminals accommodate speaker wire up to 8 AWG or twisted pairs of 12 AWG.
- Available Matching Grilles provide style and protection.
MM Series Full Range Speakers feature
- Neodymium Magnet Structure*- When you first pick up a MM series speaker, you may wonder why it's so light or why the magnet is so small. The answer: advanced technology. First MM series uses Neodymium- a type of rare earth magnet we use on all components, not just the tweeter. This premium material allows us to replace the traditional bulky ceramic magnet with one more compact at nearly half the weight. The benefit is a physically slimmer speaker which means it can fit into more applications. In addition, we can increase the venting of the speaker to keep it cool when playing at high volumes.
*except MM461p - Woven Glass Composite Cones feature tremendous stiffness-to-mass ratio. Lower mass means faster transients and finer detail.
- Large-Diameter Voice Coils (30mm) in drivers increase reliability and power handling capacity.
- Swivel Mount Tweeters on coax models allow you to precisely aim the sound.
- Flush or Surface Mount Cups for tweeters on component models included.
